I'm Colleen, and I'm excited to run for re-election as your Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC) for Single Member District (SMD) 5B05!
I first ran for ANC in 2020 after my neighbors and I had tried for more than 10 years to secure traffic safety improvements in our neighborhood, only to be met with unresponsive local leaders and District agencies. Left to fight for safer streets on our own, we finally secured an all-way stop at 13th and Upshur Streets after three long years and dozens of car crashes—a process that could have taken half as long if local officials had helped. Frustrated by this lack of assistance, I resolved to run for office and provide the kind of representation I wished we'd had—and that our community deserves.
Since being sworn into office last year, I've been proud to serve our community with collaborative,responsive,hard-working leadership. Together, we've made our neighborhood cleaner, safer, and more connected. Read below, and check out myIssuespage, for some examples of what I've accomplished. I hope to build upon our progress—with your support!
